When you first sign up, the welcome wizard walks you through three quick steps: choose your job-search focus, drop in your existing resume, and you're on your personalised dashboard. That's it — your Career Profile is seeded and ready to match against real job ads.

This guide shows you how to get even more out of that foundation.

Step 1 — Choose Your Focus

Kandid.pro asks what brings you here — whether you're an active job hunter, making a career change, returning to work after a break, or targeting purpose-driven roles. Your choice shapes your dashboard layout, the AI's tone, and which tools appear first.

You can change your focus any time in Settings > My Focus.

Step 2 — Seed Your Career Profile

Drop your current resume or LinkedIn PDF into the wizard and your master Career Profile is built in a few minutes. The system parses your roles, activities, skills, and timeline automatically.

Pro tip: You don't need a perfect profile to start. The import gives the AI enough material to run your first match. You can enrich it later — and every improvement you make flows into all future applications automatically.

Step 3 — Enrich Over Time

Once you've matched against a job ad, the Match tab shows how your profile lines up with the role. Before editing, ask yourself three quick questions:

1. Is it phrasing? You wrote "Team Lead" — the ad says "People Manager." Same skill, different keyword. Add the synonym to your profile.
2. Is it transferable? You haven't done exactly that task, but you've done something adjacent. Highlight the equivalent project.
3. Is it a nice-to-have? Most job ads list wish-list items alongside core requirements. If you meet the core, apply with confidence — the AI will emphasise your strengths.

Every improvement you make is permanent. It strengthens every future application, not just this one.

Not sure if a "gap" matters? Most job ads mix must-haves with wish-list items. If you meet the core requirements, the AI will frame your application around your strengths. Focus on adding context, not chasing every keyword.

Step 4 — Generate Tailored Documents

With your seeded profile matched against a real job, hit Generate. The AI produces a tailored resume, cover letter, and interview prep in one pass — drawing on everything in your Career Profile. For Australian government, non-profit, healthcare, and education roles, the platform also detects Key Selection Criteria automatically and offers a dedicated "Create KSC Response" button to generate STAR-structured responses for each criterion.
