Getting Started with Kandid.pro
This guide walks you through everything you need to do to get up and running on Kandid.pro — from completing your profile setup to understanding the key areas of the platform. Follow these steps in order for the best experience.
The Welcome Page
When you first sign in, you will be greeted by the Welcome Page. It presents five sequential setup steps that build on each other. Each step unlocks once the previous one is complete, and a green checkmark marks each step as done.
Tip: The Welcome Page also contains a "Take a Tour" button that launches the interactive guided tour — a great way to familiarise yourself with the platform after completing your setup. You can dismiss the Welcome Page at any time, but it is recommended to complete the five steps first.
Step 1: Create Your Career Profile
Your Career Profile is the foundation of everything in Kandid.pro — but it is important to understand what it is, and what it is not.
Your Career Profile is not a resume. It is a comprehensive, private record of your entire career — every role, every project, every skill, every achievement. There are no page limits and no need to filter or edit for brevity. The more you record, the more material the AI has to work with when it generates tailored documents for each application.
Here is how Kandid.pro uses your profile: when you apply for a job, the AI reads the job description, finds the best-matching content from your profile, and uses it to write a tailored Resume, cover letter, and email specifically for that role. You write your career history once; the AI handles the tailoring for every application you make.
- Navigate to Career Profile using the left-hand navigation bar.
- Create a new profile by clicking the "New Profile" button and completing the wizard. You will be asked to provide a profile name (e.g., "Senior Engineer" or "Executive Leadership") and select a Profile Type that matches the kinds of roles you are targeting.
- Set it as your Primary Profile — this ensures your profile is automatically selected whenever you create a new application or capture a job via the Chrome extension.
The golden rule: add everything. Include every role, every project, every skill — even things that feel obvious or old. The AI decides what is relevant for each job. You should never leave something out because you think it might not matter.
Step 2: Import Your Resume or Build Your Experience
Once your profile is created, populate it with your career history. Remember — you are not building a resume here. You are building a database. Go deep.
- Import from a document: Use the Career Import feature to pull in your existing career history. Kandid.pro uses AI to parse your content and map it into a structured format — roles, achievements, skills, and qualifications. Treat the import as a starting point and add more detail afterwards.
- Build manually: Add each role directly using the dedicated editors. For each role, record your Activities — these are your project and achievement entries, and they are the primary source material the AI draws from when generating documents.
When writing Activities, think of each one as a project record rather than a resume bullet point. Write in full sentences, include context, and describe the outcome. The richer the entry, the stronger the AI output. A single well-written paragraph about a major project — with the challenge, your actions, and the measurable result — is worth far more to the AI than a list of short, vague bullet points.
Tip: Use the Activity Bullet Point Wizard (available on each activity) to get AI assistance writing or improving individual entries. It can help you structure your experiences using proven frameworks and surface the right language for your target roles.
Step 3: Build Your Skills Portfolio
With your experience in place, review and build out your Skills Portfolio — the dedicated tab within Career Profile that holds your professional skills library.
- Navigate to the Skills Portfolio section within your Career Profile. If you imported a Resume, some skills will already be present — review and confirm them before adding more.
- Add skills across all categories — not just technical tools. Leadership styles, methodologies, domain expertise, certifications, and industry knowledge are all equally valuable inputs for the AI. Use the Category field to keep your portfolio organised.
- Set a Proficiency level for each skill — choose from Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Specialist, or Expert. This is displayed as a colour-coded badge on each skill card and is passed to the AI so your documents accurately reflect your depth of experience.
- Add context where you can — the Vendors/Platforms, Where You've Applied It, and Detail/Notes fields help the AI understand not just what you know but where and how you have used it, producing much stronger tailored documents.
- Review Qualifications and Certifications — ensure your professional qualifications and certifications are up to date in their dedicated sections. These are surfaced in AI-generated documents when relevant to a role.
- Check your Professional Summary — this is used as context by the AI when generating cover letters and LinkedIn profiles. A strong summary helps frame your career narrative.
Step 4: Install the Kandid Chrome Extension
The Kandid.pro Chrome extension allows you to capture job postings directly from job boards — LinkedIn, Seek, and others — with a single click. It automatically creates a new application in Kandid.pro with the job details pre-filled, so you can jump straight to generating your tailored Resume.
- Navigate to Settings and find the Browser Extension section to get the installation link, or search for "Kandid" in the Chrome Web Store.
- Once installed, browse to any job posting and click the Kandid extension icon in your browser toolbar to capture the role.
- Your Primary Profile is used automatically when a job is captured via the extension, so make sure it is set correctly before you begin applying.
Why this matters: Manually copying and pasting job descriptions is time-consuming and error-prone. The extension eliminates that friction entirely, letting you focus on the application itself rather than data entry.
Step 5: Create Your First Job Application
With your profile complete and the extension installed, you are ready to create your first job application.
- Via the extension: Visit a job posting on any major job board and click the Kandid extension icon. The application will be created automatically.
- Manually: Navigate to Applications and click "New Application". Enter the job title, company, and paste in the job description.
- Run the AI workflow: From within the application, run the full AI pipeline — Requirement Analysis, Career Match Scoring, Resume Generation, and Cover Letter Generation — to produce your tailored documents.
- Run Quality Checks: Once documents are generated, click "Run Quality Checks" to run both the QA (fact-checking) and ATS (keyword optimisation) checks simultaneously.
Exploring the Platform: The Guided App Tour
After completing the setup steps, take the guided tour to understand what each section of the platform does. You can launch it at any time from the "Take a Tour" button on the Welcome Page. Here is a summary of what each stop on the tour covers:
| Stop | Section | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Settings | Customise display preferences, working hours, Resume templates, subscription management, and more. |
| 2 | Dashboard | Your command centre — application stats, upcoming tasks, momentum tracking, and customisable widgets. |
| 3 | Career Profile | Build your career history with roles, activities, and achievements. The foundation for all AI-generated documents. |
| 4 | Applications | Manage all your job applications — track status, generate tailored documents, run ATS optimisation, and prepare for interviews. |
| 5 | Goals | Set and track job search goals. Define weekly targets for applications, networking, and skill development. |
| 6 | Leads | Track potential opportunities before they become formal applications. Manage your pipeline from prospect to applied. |
| 7 | Calendar (Today) | See all your interviews, follow-ups, deadlines, and focus time blocks in one place. |
| 8 | Notifications | Stay informed with real-time alerts for application updates, upcoming interviews, task reminders, and deadlines. |
| 9 | Page Help | Every page has a help button in the bottom-right corner. Click it to open the user guide for that specific page. |
What to Do Next
Once your profile is complete and you have created your first application, here are the most impactful things to explore:
- Set your first Goal — navigate to Goals and create a weekly target (e.g., "Apply to 5 jobs this week"). Goals drive the Focus Time feature and keep your search on track.
- Add companies you are targeting — the Company Research section lets you build a strategic intelligence hub for each organisation, which is automatically surfaced when you create applications for those companies.
- Customise your Dashboard — add and arrange widgets to surface the information most relevant to your search.
- Build a Leads pipeline — if you are doing proactive networking, add contacts as Leads before they become formal applications to track your outreach and interactions.
Remember: Each page in Kandid.pro has a help button in the bottom-right corner that opens the user guide for that specific page. If you are ever unsure what something does, that is the fastest way to find out.
